Epitalon (also referred to as Epithalon or Epithalone) is a synthetic tetrapeptide with the sequence Ala Glu Asp Gly (AEDG). It was developed from research into pineal gland peptide extracts and has since appeared throughout the peer reviewed literature on cellular aging, telomerase activity, and circadian regulation. Researchers already working in these areas typically know the compound's background. The practical question when selecting a supplier is not what the literature says about it, it is whether a given batch can be verified against that same standard.
Epitalon is a short peptide, and short peptides are not immune to synthesis variability. Two forms of verification separate a research grade batch from an unverified one.
Identity confirmation: mass spectrometry (MS) and/or HPLC data confirming the material matches the AEDG sequence, not just a label claim.
Purity quantification: a stated purity percentage supported by chromatographic data, rather than an unsupported number on a product page.
Without both, a lab has no reliable way to confirm that a batch is free of truncated sequences, deamidation products, or other synthesis byproducts that could confound downstream results.
A Certificate of Analysis (COA) ties a specific batch to its test results. Before treating any COA as sufficient, confirm it includes:
Batch or lot number matching the product received Third-party (not in-house) testing HPLC purity percentage Mass spectrometry identity confirmation Test date and testing laboratory name
A COA that is generic, undated, or not linked to a batch number functions as marketing material, not verification.
