Semax is a synthetic heptapeptide derived from a fragment of adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH 4 to 10), with an added sequence of proline, glycine, and proline attached to slow enzymatic degradation and extend stability relative to the parent fragment. It originated from research conducted in the former Soviet Union and continues to appear across a body of published literature examining neuroprotection, cognitive processes, and neuroplasticity in cellular and animal model systems. Research interest in Semax centers on how the modified peptide sequence interacts with neurotrophic signaling pathways, including reported associations with brain derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) expression in preclinical models.
For researchers already familiar with Semax's place in the literature, selecting a supplier comes down to a narrower question: can the identity and purity of the material be verified before it reaches the bench. That documentation and sourcing question, not a claim about what the compound does, is what this page addresses.
A heptapeptide with an appended stabilizing sequence is more complex to synthesize cleanly than a shorter fragment, and synthesis quality varies meaningfully across suppliers. Trace impurities, incomplete coupling, or degradation products can introduce confounding variables into a research dataset before an experiment even starts. Two things matter most when qualifying a source:
Without both, there is no reliable way to know whether a given batch is research grade or whether it is quietly compromising downstream results.
A Certificate of Analysis (COA) ties a specific batch to its test results. Before treating any COA as sufficient, check that it includes:
A COA that is generic, undated, or not tied to a specific batch number is not a meaningful verification. It is marketing collateral.
Nordiscience sources Semax under GMP-following manufacturing protocols and independently verifies each batch through third-party lab testing. A Certificate of Analysis is available on request for every batch sold, including HPLC purity data and mass spectrometry identity confirmation, so researchers can verify what they are receiving before it reaches the bench.
Beyond the compound itself, Nordiscience is built around the practical friction points that slow down research procurement: standard credit card, Apple Pay, and Google Pay checkout (no crypto only paywalls), fast US shipping, and a support team reachable by email or WhatsApp for sourcing or documentation questions.
Request a Certificate of Analysis for any current batch, or reach out with sourcing questions, at info@nordiscience.com or via WhatsApp (Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM Mountain Time).
